How to get started, what to look for (and what to look out for), and how to run your first year are some of the topics covered. Sources and references are provided to help you after the course. This course will be valuable if you're looking at starting your own consulting business or if you're already out on your own and are looking for some additional information. |

Technical Editing
|
Susan Moore
|
| Description |
This workshop addresses the issues editors face when editing technical material for both technical and non-technical audiences. We will discuss questions such as these: When should traditional grammar rules override "contemporary" grammar usage? Is passive voice ever okay? What does it mean to "edit for clarity"? Is editing for the Web more demanding than editing printed documents? How can I get authors to improve their writing? How do I deal with the frustration of editing for authors who think they write just fine, thank you? Come prepared to share your war stories and your pet peeves. |
