Newcomers SIG is now SIN (Shy, Inactive, New) SIG.

The Lone Star community's Newcomers SIG's goal is to provide information and networking opportunities to aspiring technical communicators by:

• interacting with other professionals
• learning more about STC, the Lone Star Community and professional opportunities
• providing speakers in the profession

Are you new? Been away for a while? Just curious to know the inner workings of the Lone Star Community of STC?

Come a little early to the monthly meetings and learn a little something new. Meet with the group, network a bit, but most of all, learn what STC is all about and how you can make the best of your membership experience.

Meetings are scheduled just before the monthly meetings at 5:45 p.m. Other events as announced.

October	Scholarships: Rob Carr Harris will talk to us about scholarship opportunities for both traditional and continuing ed.
November	Newsletter: Jackie Damrau will introduce us to the LSC newsletter, Technically Write.
December	Mentoring: Ann Balaban will visit with us and talk about mentoring objectives and opportunities.
January	No SIN SIG due to the Awards Banquet.
February	Voiunteers: Mel Haughten makes an appearance with volunteer opportunities on her mind.
March	Conference: Kathryn Poe and Jackie Damrau want to tell you why the annual conference is important to you.
April	Elections: Jim Chambless and Mel Haughten visit this month to talk about LSC elections.
May	Reunion: This is a great year-end wrap-up. Come tell us your ideas for improving SIN SIG. And if you have attended any SIN SIG meetings this year, please attend this meeting and tell us the best and worst about SIN SIG.
