STC membership provides opportunities for ongoing learning, professional networking, and organizational leadership. STC promotes the public welfare by educating members and industry about issues concerning all facets of technical communication.

Membership Rates
Rates vary depending on your category of membership.
The categories of membership are Classic, Retired, Limited, eMembership and Student. Details on costs and benefits are available from the STC website: http://www.stc.org/membership/join01.asp.
Annual dues are payable to STC on January 1. (Membership expires on December 31.) Those who join in the middle of the year get prorated dues for the second year.
STC membership dues are non-refundable and non-transferable. Please see the membership application for further details and requirements.
Fees differ for Canadian and oversees applicants. See application form.

| Technically Write | The community's award-winning newsletter. Technically Write has been published in online format only since August 2001. |
| Membership Resource | The membership directory is produced annually. It also includes the community bylaws and a list of community officers, SIG managers, and committee managers. |
| Lone Star Help Desk | Participate in the Lone Star Community's Members Only Help Desk. Post a question or respond. This is the place where tech comm pros discuss references and solve problems. |
| Job Bank Listings | You can subscribe to the Job Bank mailing list and get the most recent listing of job openings sent to your e-mail address. |

seminars /workshops | The Lone Star Community offers weekend workshops on special topics. Watch this website for announcements of future workshops and seminars. |
| Annual Competition | The Lone Star Community holds an Annual Competition encouraging tech comm professionals in our area to submit their work product for judging. This competition also allows our members to participate in the judging process. Submissions are accepted in the fall and judging is usually held in November. Winners are announced at the annual Awards Banquet in January. |
Superstar
| Lone Star volunteers can achieve Superstar status by attending meetings, participating on committees, judging competitions and helping with social service activities. |
| SIN SIG | Are you Shy? Inactive? New? Then SIN SIG is just the place for you! Formerly the Newcomers SIG (special interest group), SIN SIG meets each month before the meeting begins (except the night of the Annual Banquet). Come a little early to the monthly meeting and join us. You will meet new people and learn about Lone Star STC opportunities. |
