The Lone Star Community awards scholarships twice a year: in the fall and spring. We received several worthy scholarship applications this semester. This fall, we awarded five $1000 scholarships to the following students:
University of North Texas (UNT)
Resa Barns and Phillip Tirelli, Technical Writing undergraduate students
Theresa Mayper and Jennifer Phillips, Technical Writing graduate students
North Texas Central College (NTCC)
Karen Loyd, Technical Writing undergraduate student
We will honor these students at the LSC's Awards Banquet on January 11, 2007. The banquet is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza North Dallas/Addison Hotel.
These five students are brilliant, and they will make tremendous contributions to our profession and to STC. I am thrilled that the Lone Star Community is able to reward academic and professional excellence with our scholarships. As a former scholarship recipient, I know how much this means to each one of the students. It's a great feeling to know that an organization like STC is able to help students fulfill their dreams of earning a college degree.
