“Earn Six Figures as a Technical Communicator.” Hey! Is that a Typo?

by Lauren Womack, PR Manager

Holy Cow! Can you make six figures in our field? Well Jack Molisani, our scheduled speaker for November, notes, "The world didn't end after the dot-com bust. The economy is finally picking up, and many companies are again making near-record if not downright record profits." Jack asks, "Are you getting record raises? Is the new wave of corporate income flowing down to you? Have you stopped to consider whether you are happy with your current income?"

In his presentation, "How to Make a Six Figure Income as a Technical Communicator," Jack addresses these questions and outlines answers for expanding your sphere of influence, taking control of one's income and earning a six-plus figure income as a technical communicator.

"There are as many paths to financial and career goals as there are financial and career goals," states Jack. "Don't like where your current path is leading? Choose a new one! You'll be surprised at how many paths will appear as soon as you decide where exactly you want to go...."

"Several technical communication professionals dream of making six figures but think they'll never achieve this goal. We need to learn to negotiate our salaries and prove to our employers that we can impact their bottom line," says LSC President Mel Haughton. "Jack will help us do just that. He's an exciting speaker with years of experience. Every time I sit through one of his presentations, I take valuable information home with me. I highly encourage you to learn everything you can from him!"

Jack has been a project officer in the Space Division of the United States Air Force, a project manager in a multi-million dollar software company, and currently is the founder and president of ProSpring Inc., a technical communication staffing firm. He also produces LavaCon (www.lavacon.org), the International Conference on Technical Communication Management. The next LavaCon conference is being held in Hawaii, and Jack and LSC will be raffling off a free entry fee to the conference. You can enter with your business card, and don't forget to bring extras for networking!
