Members are the most important assets of the Lone Star Community (LSC). The 3Cs of membership that I want to talk about this month include:
Content: Your desire for informative content in the Community's monthly newsletter and meeting programs.
Collaboration: Your desire to network at the monthly meetings and to help with planned Community events throughout the year.
Community: Your desire to serve as a committee/SIG member or competitions manager/judge shows your dedication in embracing and making this Community a success.
The LSC enables the delivery of the 3Cs through all its committees. Here's a sampling of how four committees embrace the 3Cs:
Programs Committee - presents you with unique speakers to address your various communication needs, both professionally and personally.
Public Relations Committee - prepares press releases to inform other professional organizations, business groups, and print media of our events, so others can find out about our organization.
Community Service Committee - provides opportunities for the Community to give of ourselves in an altruistic way that benefits others (again, another opportunity to advertise who we are).
Newsletter Committee - provides you with another award-winning publication to showcase your opinions, your writing abilities, and an on-line mechanism for prospective employers to learn about your talents and our organization.
Consider donating your time. If you never volunteer to help our organization, then ask yourself if you have an obligation to complain. Your answer should be, "Heck no; why don't I get involved and lend my talents to this organization. I might be able to make a difference."
Transformation is upon us this year. What is ahead is certainly going to create a major change in our Content, our Collaboration, and even our interaction within our Community. Let's work together to see our Chapter embrace the 3Cs and transformation in an awe-inspiring way.
