Members Make their Mark

Congratulations to these members, who've achieved wonderful things!

Debbie Wiles has published an article in Technical Communication. Her applied research on A Perspective on Skills Development Within Western Organizations and the People's Republic of China appears in the August 2003 issue (pp. 371–384). Debbie's trip to China in October of 2002 was part of her Master's program at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Her research centered on single sourcing and where the Chinese are in relation to this approach to documentation. Based on a 13-question survey, Debbie gathered information on topics ranging from what types of text are written, to how content is organized, to how electronic files are stored.

Kathryn Poe is one of many women profiled in Texas Technology, in a special edition devoted to Women in Technology. Look for her biographical sketch in Vol. 10, Issue 8 (August, I think) on page 32.

Mark E. Hawkins received his Certified Performance Technologist (CPT) credentials from the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI). The certification was developed in response to a request from public and private organizations for criteria to better distinguish proficient practitioners of human performance technology. ISPI does not require applicants to take a test or participate in training. Instead, individuals must prove that their work accomplishments satisfy ISPI’s performance improvement standards. The assessment process is a combination of attestations by internal and external clients and a review of work products by qualified peers. With more than thirteen years of experience in training and documentation development, Mark is principal owner/consultant of OnYourMark Solutions.
