People Are Valued Assets!

By Jackie Damrau,1st VP

Damrau - Jackie, 1st VP (long)Our president, Debbie Wiles, set the strategic goal and vision for the Lone Star Chapter this year to be centered on how we can influence and measure our effectiveness within the DFW marketplace. Following her theme of increasing membership, my plans for the program year will center on people. Technical communicators serve in many roles in addition to technical writers. We are called communications specialists, documentation specialists, instructional designers, information architects, technical consultants, etc.

The September, October, and May meetings focus on the consultant/information architect role. In November and February, our meetings provide you with information on job interviewing techniques and how to remain ethical in a slow economy. For the March meeting, we will partner with the local chapter of the American Medical Writers Association to hear about medical writers, and in April we will hear one of our own members talk to us about metrics.

We have talent from California and Texas on our schedule. Come enjoy the meetings. Network with your friends, colleagues, and new members. Meet members of a different local professional organization, and simply have fun!
