Thanks for a Wonderful Year

By Jackie Damrau, 2nd VP

Jackie DamrauThis STC year has been a great learning experience for me, through organizing the Winter Workshop and the Newcomers SIG meetings, participating in both the Chapter's Technical Publications Competition and the International Technical Publications Competition, mentoring two members, and writing what I hope have been entertaining articles for you, our Chapter members.

I thoroughly enjoyed the time this year contributing to an organization that has given me so much. The Chapter has allowed me to network and make new friends (personally and professionally), enhance my leadership skills, and improve my focus on the needs of our profession. The articles that I have written have also provided me with new insights into varying areas of my own profession, and the book reviews have extended my knowledge in areas that are outside of my normal daily work area of business/leadership training.

To all of you, I say thank you for supporting the Lone Star Chapter through its many programs. Those that I was responsible for (listed above) provided different topics that met the interests of those who attended. The Newcomers SIG continues to welcome prospective, new, and old members to its programs. This SIG will be meeting over the summer, so stay tuned in to the Lone Star Web site and the IPIC announcements of upcoming meetings.

I pass my baton of 2nd VP on to Louellen Coker on May 15th. She will be responsible for overseeing the Winter Workshop for this upcoming membership year. I know that she will plan a wonderful time for everyone. I encourage you all to come out and show your support for the Chapter by participating.

Unfortunately, I will miss the Officer Inauguration this time around. Think of me as you watch Michelle Knoerzer (my able proxy) represent me on this night. I will be floating in the Western Caribbean on a Disney Cruise that was planned early last year. My thoughts are with you all as you take a much-needed rest over the summer, get caught up on your reading, or find that dream job that you have always been wanting.

Look forward to an exciting new membership year in September with our new president, Debbie Wiles, and her able Council. Plans in store are awesome and exciting.

Once again, adieu from the outgoing 2nd VP, and Hello from the incoming 1st VP.
