Lone Star Chapter Council Meeting Highlights

President Kathryn Poe called the meeting to order at 6:15 p.m.

Treasurer Mike Hiatt reported that the Chapter's cash position was higher this month due to receipt of the membership dues rebate from the Society. Other income and expenses were normal.

Kathryn reported that Jasmine Graham asked for members' Chapter Achievement Award input by email

Kathryn reported that Lisa Martin is working to identify members who agree to speak at career day events at local high schools. Elisa Miller reported that she has five LSC volunteer judges for the PISD Science Fair.

Ann Balaban reported current membership at 598, an increase of more than 20.

Doug Dow reported that Jackie Damrau was appointed Contributing Editor of the Newsletter.

Debbie Wiles reported that arrangements for the holiday party were going well. Ann Balaban made seven centerpieces and one large centerpiece for the decoration, door prizes and the silent auction. Jackie Damrau created special invitations for LSC Past Presidents.

Elisa Miller passed around a draft SIG survey to put online. She suggested that respondents get an extra entry into the drawing for a free Conference fee. She will discuss with Don Gay and plans to publish it in January.

Kathryn reported that the only active SIGs are CIC and Newcomers and that nationally, the Single Source SIG is the only SIG gaining membership.

Kathryn reported that the Student Mentoring Committee under Carla Stoke-Jones continues their work. Jackie Damrau alone is mentoring six people.

Michelle Knoerzer reported that she has found volunteers for speakers, graphics, and PR.

Michelle also reported that the Web site and database are up to date. She will add a Newsletter link to the Home Page.
