Something for Everybody

The Stars Aligned

by Debbie Wiles

I didn't plan it this way. It just happened. I'll humbly accept this rather extraordinary blessing that's been bestowed upon my carefully crafted program and leave it at that. Hey, sometimes things just work out well.

Debbie WilesThose of you involved in the training side of our discipline know that when you plan professional development activities (such as our monthly educational programs), you plan refreshers. You re-engage the learner several months after the initial training in order to refresh their skills and knowledge. Well, when you see what we've got lined up for our 2002/2003 Lone Star Chapter program, you're going to be impressed. We've got refreshers! I'll take no credit for this, of course. It just sort of happened that way.

In September and February, we focus on the job market and career development. In October and May, we look at XML and Single Sourcing. In November, March, and April, we examine usability and information design. See what I mean?

We've got some local talent and some big names this year. Take a look at this line-up:

As you can see, we've got a lot in store for you, not to mention a fabulous holiday party in December, complete with live band, dancing, and a wealth of chapter nostalgia. December's party will be the most fun you've had all year!

Come September 12th and help us kick it all off. Our recruiter panelists will be there early for networking, so bring your business card. We've prepared some excellent questions (thanks to volunteer Kate Pilkington!) to put to them during the Q&A session. I know you'll take away some solid tips for dealing with the challenges of this job market. You can register at http://www.stc-dfw.org/pages/meet_reserv.htm or by calling 972-558-1622. Remember to register by 5:00 PM on the Monday before the meeting.
