Book Drive a Success

By Lisa Martin

The Lone Star Chapter's Christmas book drive was a success! Because of your efforts, we received close to 200 books: children's, children's books in Spanish, large print books, and various others. These books will be supplied to local nonprofit groups who need them. Thanks to you, many people received gifts for Christmas who otherwise might not have received anything.

Bookworm and Santa thank Lisa Martin (center)Scott Ward , Donations Manager for Half Price Books, was happy to see all of the books from the Lone Star Chapter. "Thanks so much for your help. I really enjoyed working with STC last Christmas. I hope we can continue this relationship. Your donations are a nice help at this time of the year."

The donation division of Half Price Books is located on I-35, and on Saturdays provides a source of books for various nonprofit organizations such as hospitals, nursing homes, and churches. Books also go to the Salvation Army's Forgotten Angel program. If a child is not adopted from the Salvation Army tree or only receives a small gift, the Donation Warehouse can provide a book for a present.

The Lone Star Chapter came through with a large number of Spanish children's books. In this area of the country, these books are particularly important. The Donation Warehouse can always use as many Spanish books as possible.

Once again, the Lone Star Chapter helped others at Christmas. Thank you for those books. I'm sure others are grateful as well.
