Eligibility

To be eligible for the Professional Development Scholarship you must be:

• Planning to or already enrolled in a workshop or courses in the field of technical communications. Workshops and courses include:
  • Pre or post STC conference workshops
  • Special topics Workshops
  • Professional course or workshop in your field
• Pursuing a career in the technical communications field.
• A current, paid member of the Lone Star Chapter of STC.

The Application

Your application should demonstrate excellent organization and writing skills. The document should showcase your best talents! Your application should be 1500 words or fewer and contain three or fewer graphics.

Explain-

• How you meet the eligibility requirements. For example, tell us about the workshops or courses you want to take and how they will help you further your career in technical communications (this should be the most important part).
• Any special honors/achievements.
• Any degrees held. 
• Your professional experiences in the technical communications field (if any). 
• Your professional career goals. If you are changing careers please explain why.

• Date/Location of workshop/class
• Name of sponsoring organization
• Course or workshop topic or Number of professional development classes and their topics 
• Estimate of all fees associated with the session (including travel, hotel, etc)
• Estimation of funds to offset the above costs (e.g., grants, scholarships, employer reimbursement programs, etc.) 
• Information about where to send funds on your behalf (the organization, sponsoring professional association, course or workshop agency) --
